Is $82.2k Turning Into New Resistance?

Bitcoin has Weekly Closed below ~$82200 which technically sets price up for a bearish retest of this level, unless price is able to reclaim the level on lower timeframes via Daily Closes, for example.

Until then, this positioning is bearish for price.

This $82200 level was a point of major rejection back in May 2026 (red circle), but it has also served as a key level for upside continuation, with messy retests the norm around it.

And now, Bitcoin has Weekly Closed below it (orange circle).

That positions price below the upper blue level, opening the door to a bearish retest into new resistance, which could send Bitcoin back into the blue-to-blue range, whose floor is $78,298 (lower blue horizontal), on stronger rejection.

This is the same range Bitcoin inhabited during the messy retests of early 2025 (green circle).

And it’s a range that generally sees a reaction, whether in the form of a messy trend reversal like early 2025, or continuation to the upside.

Look at the red circle: price rallied from the lower blue level into the upper one, rejected, and then dropped back to bearish retest the lower blue level once again.

So $78,298 is clearly a key reaction zone, whether that means trend reversal in a Bull Market (green circle), continuation into a bearish relief rally like we saw in late April, or for downside continuation like we saw in May 2026 (both instances are outlined by the red circle).

This region has seen its share of messy retests too, via candle body deviations or downside wicks altogether.

In fact, if Bitcoin is bullish around this level, downside wicking or even brief deviations below it tend to be part of the process.

So turning the upper blue level back into resistance would send price closer to the Range Low for some sort of reaction.

Bitcoin is currently -8.64% from its highs, and that is the extent to which Q4 seasonal weakness has transpired so far.

But what happens if Bitcoin continues to reject from the upper blue level?
